What's New ========== Version 2.6 (released: May 07, 2003) ------------ * Added support for JPEG 2000 files (*.jpc;*.j2k;*.jp2). * Added new setting to rename output pictures (see Help). * Added optional News feature to inform you of Easy Thumbnail updates and other Fookes Software news. * Updated image processing code. * Updated Help file. Version 2.53 (released: October 24, 2002) ------------ * Added the Lossless option to the Algorithm list. Use it to produce lossless JPEG rotations. * The Lossless option can now be invoked through the following command-line switch: /F=Lossless * When overwriting original files with images transformed by Easy Thumbnails, the modified picture is now updated in the image panels. Images selections are kept when the file list is updated. * Fixed an error that occurred when saving a lossless JPEG image over its original file. Version 2.52 (released: October 15, 2002) ------------ * Since version 2.5, EXIF data is copied to the new image file whenever the original JPEG image contains such data. Now, to reduce the file size of small thumbnails, the EXIF data is automatically removed if the image height or width does not exceed 300 pixels. * The file size shown with Thumbnail Preview active was incorrect for images containing EXIF data. This is now fixed. Version 2.51 (released: October 08, 2002) ------------ * Added two new command-line switches to set the resampling filter (/F) and resizing method (/Z). See Help for details. * Fixed a glitch that caused the resize dimensions to be reset to 200 each time Easy Thumbnails was restarted. * Fixed a glitch that caused resizing to fail under certain conditions. * Sometimes files were not overwritten when they should have been. * Several other minor improvements and issues fixed. Version 2.5 (released: September 26, 2002) ----------- * New image processing engine; it is now significantly faster. * Three additional resampling filters. * If your original image is a JPEG file, you can produce a lossless (no degradation of image quality) ± 90/180 rotation by setting "JPeg quality" to 100, no resize, and all other settings to zero. * Renamed some of the interface items for better clarity. * Several minor issues fixed. Version 2.0 (released: September 04, 2002) ----------- * Added Resize options: no resize, best fit (scale down/up), shrink to fit, enlarge to fit, stretch to fit (aspect ratio ignored). * Added option [Smart] to automatically select the best resampling filter used for resizing pictures. * Added a pull-down list to configure name of thumbnail file with a prefix or suffix. * Added edit boxes next to slider controls as an alternative method to change the settings. * Added support for processing file lists through the command-line. * Command-line parameters can now either start with the "/" or "-" character. * Updated the Help file, which includes a topic explaining the different resize algorithms. Version 1.8c (released: May 06, 2002) ------------ * Improved the Browse Folder dialog box. * Under Windows NT/2000/XP, the "Make Thumbnail" context-menu command failed to show up in Windows Explorer. This is now fixed. * The /L command-line switch now also changes the case of thumbnail filenames made during the session. * JPE files (Jpeg) are now correctly processed. Version 1.8b (released: April 18, 2002) ------------ * The /M command-line switch was set under certain conditions, even though it was not specified. Fixed. Version 1.8 (released: April 03, 2002) ----------- * Now uses a new HTML Help file. * Selecting a range of images with the Shift key no longer causes an update of each selected image. * Fixed a bug that caused a message box to pop up when creating thumbnails from the command-line (as if the /M switch was used). * Fixed a minor rounding error when calculating the new size of thumbnails. * Fixed "GetDIB failed" error messages sometimes popping up when processing large .bmp files. * The "Make Thumbnail" shortcut for Windows Explorer is now an option that can be set through the Setup program. * Several other minor issues fixed. Version 1.6b (released: January 29, 2002) ------------ * Fixed a glitch that sometimes caused failure to create the "Make Thumbnail" context-menu command in Windows Explorer. * The image preview now shows a popup hint with details on its dimensions and file size when you move the mouse cursor over it. * A licensing arrangement is now required if you plan to run Easy Thumbnails on a server as a process for another application. * Updated Help file. Version 1.6 (released: December 10, 2001) ----------- * Supports Windows XP themes. * To speed up image selection, you can hold down the Alt key to stop each image you select from being displayed in the Preview panel. This can be useful if you want to select several large images for processing. * Message and error windows can now be completely suppressed when running Easy Thumbnails from the command line. Use the new /LOG switch to store status information in a log file. You can specify a filename for the log results by using an equal sign after /LOG followed by the filename. If you don't specify a log file, results will be stored in "EzThumbs.log" in the program's folder. Examples: EzThumbs.exe "test\*.jpg" /Log EzThumbs.exe "c:\temp\*.jpg" /Log=Output EzThumbs.exe "*.jpg" /Log="c:\My Documents\Thumbnails.dat" * Earlier versions were not able to open TIFF files unless they contained "preview information". This has been fixed. Version 1.5 (released: September 06, 2001) ----------- * Easy Thumbnails can create Web pages with your choice of images. The layout can be defined through simple template files. See the "Make Web page" command described below. * Added command-line switches. These let you create thumbnails and Web pages without using the program's interface. Thanks to this feature, you can generate thumbnails seamlessly from other programs. See the Help file for details. * Added a "Make Thumbnail" command to the Windows Explorer File and shortcut menus. This command only appears for supported file types and is ideal for quickly converting one or two images. This feature is only suitable for handling small amounts of images at a time (five or less). * New "Make Web page" command, which is available when you right- click with your mouse in the picture-files listing. Use this command to create a Web page based on your current selection of images. The layout is defined in the "Template.html" template file, which you can customize. By default, the Web-page file is saved as "pictures.html", and each new copy adds an index number after the name -- e.g., pictures(1).html, pictures(2).html, etc. You can set a different name through the program's command line. * New "Show in browser" command, which is available when you right-click with your mouse in the picture-files listing. Use this command to display the current selection of images in your default browser. The layout is defined in the "Template.html" template file, which you can customize. * Easy Thumbnails now correctly recognizes Jpeg files using the .jpe extension. These represent truncated .jpeg extensions. * Fixed a glitch that caused a black pixel to appear at the top + bottom left side of images with a non-zero Sharpness setting. Version 1.0 (released: March 28, 2001) ----------- This is the first release of Easy Thumbnails. _________________________________________________________________ Easy Thumbnails™ is a trademark of Fookes Software, Switzerland Copyright © 2001-2003, Fookes Software, Switzerland - All Rights Reserved -
